Vice: Skate World: England

Back in 2010 Vice created a documentary to show history of skateboarding in London. At the very start of the documentary the protaganist says 'the thing that drives him at the moment is the risk of a lot of these places been taken away'. He discusses that documentaries are important to display skateparks being important to young people and stops people wanting to take away these places to build property. He mentions that its a powerful medium to speak to people, the councils and the government. I feel like I can relate to this documentary as the guy goes to different spots, meets up with his friends and talks about they history.  One skate spot they talked about was South Bank which is going to have its very own blog page.

Even on this documentary the protagonist goes to a skatepark that he knows is going to get knocked down as mentioned in the video the skatepark is called Harrow Skatepark. There was a fight to save it but the fight was lost. He mentioned at harrow park there was loads of demos and people coming in but the park closed anyway.

People say skateboarders were an outcast, if you weren't the football kid then you weren't cool, these ideologies are with us today but that's what brings skateboarders together,

Stockwell skate park and Harrow skatepark was built by the same people, who are these people?

One man mentions that in the 1970's the skate park used to be empty. He mentions that stockwell skatepark is starting, its not going anywhere.

Also the documentary follows Ben Nordberg, who at the time was amateur but is not pro and living in LA, the shots start off with him skating in Bath.

Very interesting point to be made, Kris Vile also a amateur at the time mentions that skateparks used to charge a lot of money but when you're a kid you don't have a lot of money so kids stuck to skating the streets.

Shiner distribution, a UK skateboard shop is also mentioned in the documentary, its nice because they are still in action as a company.

Distribution in the UK, Shinner used to distribute to skate shops in the UK, so they had the shops back and the shops had Shinners back.

They mention that UK street sections are more rough than everywhere else.
