This company offers a 9 work stage by architects and engineers to design skateparks that require minimal maintenance. 


Step 1 Evaluation and research: Finalise implementation planning, coordinate with all contractors, create detailed plans, determine work schedule. 


Step 2  Conceptual design: Cost estimation, cost control, scheduling and assembly of contract paperwork.


Step 3 Design development and cost estimate: Overall skatepark consulting, establishing goals of municipality, location of the skatepark, creation master plan, identifying potion end users, defining stakeholder group and organising workshops with stakeholders.


Step 4 Approval phase: Finalisation of preliminary plan, project documentation, prevention of 2D- model to community officials/municipality. 


Step 5 Construction documents: Expand preliminary plan, coordinate with agencies and governing bodies, 3D-blueprint design including materials, features, cost calculation. 


Step 6 Tender documents specifications and bill of quantity: Compiling submission materials and proof documents for official project approval, submission of materials. Adjusting or expanding paperwork, descriptions, and cost estimations.


Step 7 Support for contract award: Obtain, exam service proposals, compile price comparison list, conduct tender negations, assess and recommendation of tenders, document award process, compile contract documents, cost control including comparative analysis of cost calculation of bidder pricing, support during award of contract.


Step 8 Site supervision: Supervise the project, monitor material deliveries, coordinate constriction contractors, maintain and supervise work schedule , accounting control, approval of construction services. Cost control. documentation and site calculation. 


Step 9 Project documentation: Check for guarantee claims within the statue of limitations, site inspection for defects before statutory period of limitation expire.

4. Green is beautiful. Integration of landscape is used to aesthetically please the whole experience, a lot of outdoor skateparks are located in parks or other communal spaces.

5. Skateboarding is fun. Their parks are planned to provide maximum enjoyment to all users from beginners to pros. Fun is the most important common denominator.

South Bank Skatepark

  theproject theproject South Bank skates spot is located in South Bank and boasts an underfoot skate spot that has been established there since the 1970's, when skateboarding was starting to take off in the UK. This is shear brilliance for my report as many property developers over the years have tried to buy this space and turn it into shops and restaurants but each time the skateboarders get together to form an alliance against it. A charity called Long Live South Bank started taking donations to keep the park safe from property developers and up until now its worked but its only a certain amount of time before it gets pulled.

The Mission

Statistics and evidence of skateparks closing all across the UK shows that skateboarding is a dying, but with big companies jumping onto the streetwear bandwagon you would think that the skateboarding scene would be at an all time high. Skateboarding appears in Burberry campaigns, Hermes are selling skateboards for $3,000 a pop but skateparks are being destroyed, skateboarding companies (Mainly independent shops) are becoming bankrupt, and a concerning lack of interest has been found in the sport. On the other hand a lot of skateboarding brands have benefitted from their target audience shifting from skateboarders to street wear stylists. As much as I hate conglomerate companies who have benefited from skateboarding such as Supreme and Nike they have brought in a ridiculous amount of money into the sport.  The mission is to raise awareness that skateboarding is heavily declining, whilst brands such as Palace, Supreme, Vans, and Nike are capitalising the sport through fashion.
