7 REASONS WHY BRANDS AND RETAILERS SHOULD INVEST IN LOCAL SKATE PARKS

https://www.boardsportsource.com/2017/07/26/7-reasons-brands-retailers-invest-local-skate-parks/

Right off the bat this article discusses skateparks more than just a spot to skate but as a communal space for society.

The article also states there is no big push for brands or the industry to push for skateparks, I can only think of one skatepark that is owned by a big corporate brand which is Baysixty6 located in the west end of London. Nike sponsors this skatepark and in return apply advertisements around the skate park and a shop sells Nike SB clothes there.

1. Skatepark designs are better.

I agree to some point, if you go to a brand new skatepark now it is perfectly designed, similar to what you would see at a professional skate competition.  If you put money into the right building companies you can create something that reflects your band in positive ways.

2. Permanent visibility.

If you build a skatepark you can add whatever you like to is, including banners of your brand, other brands  or sponsors can rent out advertising space at your park which means more money.

3.Growing your audience.

Once you have your own skatepark, you can check people who are using it, with the power of social media, skaters are likely to check themselves in at the skatepark or add the location of where it was filmed. This in itself is free advertising straight towards your skatepark.

4. Ripping and tearing.

This section is more useful to the local skate shops, if you were to open a skatepark for skaters to have a better spot then they are going to be skating a lot more meaning their shoes and clothes will rip and their hardware will snap which likely means more sales for the shop. It would be better to build and indoor park so skaters have something to skate all year round.

5. Teach them young.

This part talks about how the younger generation need to get off their video games, however: i recall the game EA Skate 3 was the main reason that I started skateboarding when I was a young teen. It also discusses Nike's donor roll skateboard club, which is a NIKE SB shelter indoor park in Berlin which conducts of workshops that has over 10,000 participants every year. If you build a skatepark then you are building a community that can bing in profits for your brand.

6. Events & Competitions.

Skateparks offer a simple way to organise contests and sessions, ''it's all about giving back to the scene.'' said Sven at TX Sports. Extra sponsors include shutting down the park for exclusive sessions or product launches, hosting demos, contests and photo shoots. Build the skate park well and keep it maintained and you will consistently see brands promoting and contests being held at your skate park.

7. Media Productions.

High profile skateparks with traction on social media such as the Berrics or the DC shoe embassy in Barcelona gain millions of views on social media. If a park is operated independently and runs its own communications, brands and shops can also leverage synergies to reach broader audiences.
